AIS (Active Isolated Stretching), developed by Aaron Mattes, is a stretching method that facilitates effective lengthening of major muscle groups and physiological restoration of superficial and deep fascial planes. It involves active movement and reciprocal inhibition (opposing muscular contraction) to achieve optimal flexibility. This approach provides amazing functional movement benefits. AIS is used by athletes worldwide to assist with achieving optimal sports performance. It is also effective for individuals who need muscular rehabilitation and/or have chronic pain. AIS will help rapidly accelerate your movement goals when combined with good functional movement strategies through the STOTT PILATES® method.

- 55 Minutes - $70 or $650 for a package of 10 (this package is useable with Private Pilates Equipment classes)
The goal of this 30-minute group class is to properly stretch either the upper and lower body. You will be led by the instructor on several stretches that are based on the Aaron Mattes Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) technique. AIS allows the body to repair itself and also to prepare for daily activity. The Active Isolated Stretching technique involves holding each stretch for no more than two seconds. This method of stretching is also known to work with the body’s natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia. To facilitate proper lengthening of the tissues each participant uses a stretch strap. This class can be done before or after any type of workout.
